In that position, Shawn served as director and liaison between the City and the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), between the City and the Chamber of Commerce, served on the City’s Sick Bank Committee, and had total responsibility for the City’s Community Development Block Grant Program and Human Relations. He served with the City of Auburndale until accepting a position as Lakeland Assistant City Manager in 2016.

Shawn is a former Marine who served in Iraq, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia during Operations Desert Shield/Storm. He has an A.A. degree in Public Administration from Polk State College, a B.A. in Management from Warner University, and a Masters of Public Administration from the University of South Florida. Shawn is a graduate of Leadership Polk Class IV, a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), and has served on the Board of Directors of the Florida City/County Management Association (FCCMA). In 2013, he was awarded the FCCMA B. Harold Farmer Scholarship and has served as President and Chapter Mentor of the ICMA Student Chapter at the USF, a student organization he co-founded.

Congratulations, Shawn, and thank you for your exceptional dedication and service to the public!
