The Auburndale Police Department Citizens Police Academy is an exciting and educational
experience that puts you in the boots of an
Auburndale Police Officer. The academy was
established in 2008 in an effort to bring the
police and the citizens of Auburndale closer
together to help in crime prevention and
eliminate many of the preconceived notions the
general public has about Law Enforcement.
As a recruit in the academy, you will be exposed
to the life of a police officer and what he or
she has to deal with on a daily basis. You will
receive hands on experience and practical
applications of many aspects of police life.
Some of the training included in the course will
be crime scene processing, actual traffic stops
in a patrol vehicle, and a look at how alcoholic
beverages affect driving and motor skills.
You will receive instructions on several key
areas that will not only help you in your daily
life, but you will become more informed about
the law as it pertains to traffic enforcement,
criminal law, civil law, and domestic violence
awareness. These are just several areas of
instruction that a recruit of the academy will
explore and experience firsthand.
The course will be tough, but the participants
will come away from the program with a more
informed and better educated prospective than
that of the average citizen.
