SUMMER RECREATION BUS DRIVER  

TEMPORARY POSITION - SEASONAL  

 

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:        This is responsible, skilled work involving the safe operation of a school bus to transport summer recreation children.  Work is performed under the supervision of the Summer Recreation Director and the Recreation Superintendent.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:        Safely transports participating children to and from various activities, events and locations.  Drives bus carefully and in compliance with traffic regulations.  Responsible for the safety of participating children in loading, unloading and transporting them to and from activities.  Instructs children on safety precautions and practices.  Signals children when to cross street or highway and assures that children are safe upon departure from bus.  Inspects, maintains (provides clean environment) and ensures proper mechanical condition (e.g., water, gas and oil levels) before operating bus.  Maintains discipline and reports unruly behavior. Performs other non-essential duties as required.

 

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:    Knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules, regulations and precautions.  Ability to operate and maintain a school bus. Knowledge of child supervision techniques.  Must have knowledge of basic first aid and occupational hazards.  Ability to maintain effective working relationships with City employees, participating children and family members and the general public is essential.

 

Graduation from High School or GED.  Must have a valid Florida Commercial Driver’s License (Class B).

 

WORK SCHEDULE:          Tuesday - Friday, Max. 32 hours per week - 9 week program

HIRING RATE:                     Depends on Qualifications & Experience
