AQUATICS SUPERVISOR

TEMPORARY POSITION - SEASONAL

 

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:        This is responsible work involving the administration and operation of the Auburndale Municipal Beach.  Work is performed under the direction of the Recreation Superintendent.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:        Responsible for the daily administration and operation of the City’s Municipal Beach, including the oversight of all lifeguards, ensuring the safety of swimmers and sunbathers, enforcing established rules and standards of conduct, instructing students to swim, performing cleaning and maintenance duties in the water and on Municipal Beach grounds (e.g., bathrooms and pavilions) and ensuring the proper set-up and break-down of required materials.  Performs other non-essential duties as required.

 

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:    Considerable knowledge of water and surrounding area safety and life saving techniques, including first aid, rescue methods and artificial respiration.  Experience in supervising employees (i.e., commendation, discipline, scheduling).  Ability to remain alert during long periods of time and to swim strongly.  Ability to maintain effective working relationships with City employee’s and the general public is essential.

 

Completion of two (2) years of college or university classes and at least two (2) years of experiences as a swimming instructor and at least six (6) months supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Possession of a valid American Red Cross Advanced Water Safety Instructor (W.S.I.) certificate, a valid Senior Life Saving certificate and a valid Standard First Aid and CPR Training certificate are required.  Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license is required.

 

JOB LOCATION:                 Auburndale Municipal Beach, Ramsgate Avenue

WORK SCHEDULE:          Up to 40 hours per week.  Must be able to work weekends and holidays, as needed

HIRING RATE:                     Depends on Qualifications & Experience
