Welcome to the Auburndale Public Library.  Our friendly and helpful Staff is here to assist you with any request.  Please feel free to Contact Us with any questions you may have.  We look forward to helping you enjoy your library experience.  We have several Electronic Resources and Services you may choose from for home or library use.  Our Card Catalog is available 24 hours a day.  (This excludes any technical problems.)  Books are available for Borrowing upon request from any of the several Other Libraries through the Polk County Library Cooperative.

The Library's hours are:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Services

* Computers for public use (max of 3 hrs. a day in 1 hour increments)
* Public wireless Internet access
* Parent/Teacher resources (adult checkout only)
* Blind Service machines may be brought in for repair.
* Any machine in the county may be brought in to trade for a refurbished machine.
* Photocopies: B&W .10, color $1
* Laminating: $0.75 per foot, 24 in. x 12 in
* Fax: $2 for the first page, $1 for each additional page; $1 a page to receive faxes (cover sheets are free)
* NEW - We now have a small collection of books in Spanish
* Books By Mail (Ask staff for details.)
Auburndale Public Library is a member of the Polk County Library Cooperative. Books can be checked out from, returned to, or requested from any public library in the county.
There is no age limit for getting a library card. Even a newborn can get one. Library cards are free as long as you live in Polk County.

Borrowing

Borrowing Limits:
New patron: 2 items (1 may be a VHS or DVD)
Adults: up to 40 items (5 may be VHS or DVD)
Children: up to 20 items (no movies)
Borrowing Time Limits:
Videos: 2 weeks
DVDs: 2 nights
Books: 2 weeks
Audio Cassettes, CD’s, and MP3’s: 2 weeks
Reference: unavailable for checkout
Older Encyclopedias: 2 weeks
Renewals:
Books, Videos, AC’s, CD’s and MP3’s: 2 times
DVD’s: 1 time
Many items may be renewed online at http://www.pclc.lib.fl.us
We will hold requested items for up to seven days before returning them to their library or the shelves.
Late Fees:
10¢ a day per book, audio cassette, CD, or MP3
50¢ a day per video cassette/DVD
Lost Items:
Patron will be charged the actual cost of the item or if returned, a $5 late fee. 
We are sorry, but if a patron has $10 or more in late fees, he/she will be not be allowed to check out any items until the fees are brought below this amount.

Auburndale Public Library is part of the Polk County Library Cooperative.  The following libraries are members of the cooperative.  One library card is used to checkout items at any of these libraries.  Books may also be returned to any of theses libraries.  The courier runs Monday through Friday.  Videos and DVD’s must be returned to the library they were checked out at.

Accessing Electronic Services  

All online services can be accessed through

Online Catalog-You can use quick search on the first page of the above address, or click on the tab labeled “Catalog”.
Accessing Your Account - 
Click on “catalog” and then click on “login” in the upper right hand corner.  
Type in your barcode then ID number, then login.  
Click on “Account Information”.  
Click on “Items Out”.  
If you want to renew, click in the square next to the title, then click “Renew”.
Gale Databases - Go to the first page of the above address.  
Click on “Gale Group Resources” on the left hand side.  
Type in your barcode and click “Proceed”.  
Click on the name of the resource that you want to use.  
Other Online Services - Go to the above address.  
Click on the tab labeled “Databases”.
Click on “If not please log in here now” if not directed to the login  
Type your barcode number (beginning with 20398) in the username field.  
Type your ID # in the password field.  
You must get your ID # from the library staff.

Auto Repair— Contains complete automotive repair information supplied by Nichols Publishing, publisher of Chilton Information, on most domestic and imported vehicles.  It includes data on vehicles from 1954 to present, drawings, photographs, service bulletins & recalls, wiring diagrams, labor and time estimator, and quick tips. 
Digital Sanborn Maps 1867-1970 Maps of a city or town, including the outline of each building, the size, shape, materials, and function of structures etc. .It gives street names, street and sidewalk widths, property boundaries, and house and block numbers.

World Book— This contains every article that is in the World Book encyclopedia and more.  There are related web site listings and state-of-the-art multimedia.
*This database can only be accessed through the Polk County Library Cooperative from within any of the libraries that are a part of the PCLC system
All databases except Ancestry.com may be accessed from home.   To access these services you must have your barcode# and your ID#.  If you do not have these #’s you may get them in person at any Polk County Public Library.

Come and enjoy our wonderful story time program.
Programs may include:

Puppet shows
Music
Dancing
A small craft
Rhymes
Finger plays
Each program lasts approximately 45 minutes.  There is no charge to participate.
