The Coca-Cola Company Commits $2 Billion to Support Planting of 25,000 Acres of New Orange Groves in Florida

May 7, 2013. The future of Florida orange juice is looking brighter today.
Coca-Cola is supporting the state’s largest citrus planting in 25 years with a commitment to purchase approximately
$2 billion of oranges produced by the new groves. Partnering with Cutrale Citrus Juices and Peace River Citrus Products,
Coca-Cola’s investment will enable the growers to plant 25,000 acres of orange trees.
Coca-Cola has played an active role in the Florida citrus industry since purchasing Minute Maid® in 1960.
Today, the Company operates 26 facilities in Florida, employing 6,100 associates. Over the last five years,
The Coca-Cola Company has invested more than $400 million in its operations throughout the state.
Most recently, the Auburndale facility, which produces Simply® juices, underwent a significant expansion.
Adding a new production line and increased warehouse space, this multi-million dollar project created 129 new jobs,
bringing the total number of facility employees to more than 500.

Florida Polytechnic University - Florida's
12th and Newest University

April 16, 2013.
Located in Auburndale's backyard, Florida Poly had their
topping off ceremony, where architect Dr. Santiago Calatrava
witnessed the last beam being placed on the building.
The building pictured above
is the Innovation, Science and Technology Building.
It is scheduled for
completion in June 2014 and classes will start in the Fall
of 2014.

New Blueberry Packinghouse and
Cold Storage
Five Star
Family Growers Announces Joint Venture with Alpine Fresh,
Inc.
February 1, 2013. Five Star
Family Growers, an Auburndale
blueberry grower, announced Thursday
it has begun construction of a
packinghouse and cold storage
facility that will process more than
1 million pounds of fresh
blueberries beginning this spring,
according to a company statement.
The facility on 260 acres north of
the Old Dixie Highway/Polk Parkway
interchange is expected to open in
March in time for the 2013 blueberry
harvest. Five Star is building the
packinghouse in partnership with
Alpine Fresh Inc., a Doral grower,
packer and shipper of blueberries
and other fresh produce for 25
years. The facility will employ
about 15 full-time employees plus
seasonal workers.

Historic Preservation
The Exchange Building has received a major rehab from its
new owners, Chris Miller and Paul Brown. The Citrus
Exchange Building was built in 1922 by the Auburndale Citrus
Growers Association and in 1995 was established as a local
historic landmark. Two years later, it was designated
as a National Historic Landmark. It is currently being
used as a mini-storage building and warehouse. Here are before
