Work crews secure a large generator unit from a crane

On Thursday, the City installed two of three new emergency generators to the Ariana Beach and Lakeshore Lift Stations. These generators are a part of capital improvements to backup major wastewater lift stations in the event of a power outage. This provides a much needed relief for sewage services in the event of a major storm or hurricane, when the power grid is most vulnerable and local area precipitation is high. FEMA is reimbursing the City for the new generators at a total of $142,000.

The third lift station to receive a new generator is located west of the city, along US Highway 92 and will be installed at a future date.
